Herbal Teas for Heartburn - Things to Know
For heartburn/acid reflux sufferers, there are a wide range of herbal teas that you can drink, which can either prevent heartburn from occurring, or reduce the symptoms once it has started. Even though many of these herbs can cause you heartburn if taken directly, if taken in a diluted form instead, they have been known to alleviate your heartburn/acid reflux.
If you're pregnant and suffering from heartburn, then you do need to be extra careful with what you drink and eat. This applies too, when it comes to herbal teas. However, by looking around, you should be able to find a wide range of natural herbal teas which eliminate or alleviate heartburn for the expectant mother. These blends of natural herbs have been specially made, taking into account your special condition to ensure minimal side effects and reactions.
But like with anything, especially when you're pregnant, read the label carefully to check if it is right for you, and if in doubt ask someone medically qualified.
If you find that you don't like one form of herbal tea, don't give up altogether. Each type of herb has its own unique taste, and since there are a wide variety of herbal teas available to try, it might take you some time to find the tea which you enjoy drinking. For example, I love peppermint, but peppermint tea is something that I really can't abide, no matter that it's good for me. A gentler flavored tea such as rooibos or chamomile on the other hand, is something that I do enjoy and find very refreshing to drink.
All of the teas I've listed in this section can be bought ready-made, either from your local grocery, or from your local health store. I have also included some of the recipes below so that you can try and make it for yourself if you want to.
