Natural Heartburn/Acid Reflux Home Remedies - Sleeping Position
If you suffer from nighttime heartburn, perhaps changing your sleeping position is all you need to do to help prevent heartburn/acid reflux.
Next time you've eaten an evening meal which you believe will trigger heartburn, try going to sleep lying on your left side. By sleeping in this position, you keep your stomach below your esophagus. Although this remedy doesn't have one of the higher success rates, it can help to prevent heartburn from occurring as the acids have to work harder to flow from your stomach into your esophagus.
Even if you suffer from a type of heartburn other than nighttime heartburn/acid reflux, you could still try this cure, especially if you have just eaten a large meal and go to bed within 2 hours of finishing. Just lying on your left side for a few minutes after eating a large meal, you will increase the blood flow to your stomach and so aid digestion of the food you have just eaten.
