Heartburn/Acid Reflux Cures with Bitter Herbs
If your heartburn/acid reflux is caused by not enough stomach acids, as opposed to too much, you might want to consider introducing more bitter herbs into your diet. It's believed these herbs stimulate the digestive system through encouraging the production of saliva, stomach acids, and digestive enzymes.
If your heartburn/acid reflux is caused by too much stomach acid though, then bitter herbs are something that you'll want to avoid, as they will only make your heartburn worse.
Just to make it clear, bitter herbs are thought to help in cases where you're producing too little acid, although there haven't yet been any conclusive results from medical studies to prove this is the case. If your heartburn/acid reflux is caused by too little acid and you want to try this remedy, then you could try introducing more of the following into your diet;
Artichoke, bitter orange, juniper, Oregon grape, prickly ash, bitter melon and dandelion to name a few. There are also other items you could introduce as well, and either your doctor or staff at your local health store should be able to advise you further.
Of course, before trying to introduce more bitter herbs into your diet, you should have already consulted your doctor to ensure that your heartburn/acid reflux is caused by too little stomach acid, as opposed to too much.
