Heartburn/Acid Reflux Home Remedies with Cardamom Tea
The use of cardamoms to improve health has long been known, especially in Asian countries. In fact, you will regularly find cardamom pods added in Asian recipes as part of the cooking process, to allow chance for the medicinal properties to filter into the food, as well as adding that distinctive flavor.
In fact, in research studies, cardamoms have been found to have antioxidant properties which are much higher than those found in a great number of fruits and vegetables. These properties help to restore your body's health levels, as well as stimulating digestion and reducing gas in the stomach area, both of which can contribute to triggering heartburn/acid reflux.
Generally, if you make cardamom tea yourself, most recipes call for the use of milk and sugar, as in the recipe below. However, if these are a heartburn/acid reflux trigger for you, then you can leave them out.
To make your own tea, what you need is 5 cardamom pods which you have slightly crushed, 2 normal tea bags, 4 tablespoons of sugar, and some milk to taste. Put the cardamoms in a saucepan and add around seven cups of fresh cold water. Bring this mixture to the boil. Once boiling, add the sugar and tea bags.
If you want to add milk, then add just enough to turn the mixture a pale beige color. Bring the mixture back to the boil again and just as it begins to rise to the top of the pan, turn off the heat.
After straining, the tea is ready to drink.
