Heartburn/Acid Reflux Friendly Recipes

Just because you suffer from heartburn doesn't mean that you have to go without all your favorite food items. Think of it as an opportunity to experiment in the kitchen and find some new recipes with new ingredients that you would otherwise not think to try.

You may find that simply by experimenting more with your old favorites and perhaps adding some  more of the food items that relieve heartburn such as parsley and spinach, you can still eat your favorite dishes but with less chance of triggering heartburn. In the process, you have also given your old favorites a new lease of life with a slightly new flavor.

Once you know what triggers your heartburn/acid reflux, you may still be able to use your old recipes but just substitute a few of the ingredients. Substituting full fat milk, or half and half, with non fat is one such option. Cutting down on the amount of salt that you use or substituting lemon pepper for your old regular pepper. Even something as simple as using more easily digestible meat like chicken or turkey in place of beef may work for you. Perhaps you could consider reducing your meat intake altogether and replacing it with Soya instead, leaving meat for a special treat.

I've put some recipe ideas in this section to try and inspire you to try something new. Also to show you that a diet based around heartburn prevention foods rather than heartburn/acid reflux triggering items doesn't have to be bland.

Failing that, there are recipe books that you can buy or download over the internet specifically dedicated to people who suffer with heartburn/acid reflux. If you suffer from one of the usual heartburn/acid reflux triggers then these books offer you a wide variety of meal options to try. But for those of you who have identified a less common heartburn/acid reflux trigger, these books may not offer you a wide range of meal options.
